We also are in an employment market where new hires will come out of the Millennial pool, so it is important as a small family business that we continue to educate ourselves about the market, and pass that knowledge on to our clients. What follows is a paper on Generation Y management issues we are all facing. With companies now having different generational mentalities and priorities, the corporate melting pot has new challenges ahead. New college graduates are entering the workforce, having never known a world without computers, cell phones, email, or instant messaging. They have been brought up in a fast-paced, instant world that is always moving and changing. These younger employees are looking for innovating ways to complete tasks that may go against the grain of the older workforce. Millennial Management Challenges Loyalty Newer, younger employees are less committed to staying with the same company, whether they have a loyalty problem, see better opportunities elsewhere, or just get bored with their jobs. One of the other major reasons that young employees jump jobs is that they have large student loans to pay off. Advancement Expectations Younger employees expect promotions much faster than previous generations.
People flock to these generational identities like they flock to their horoscopes, combing through all the traits to seek out the good characteristics and throw away the bad attributes that are reflected in their generational identities.
